Different Ways To Send Big Files Free

By Marguerite Stanton

The internet is known to constantly update. Data sizes that have been considered too huge are now being taken as average sizes. However, most of the services in emailing have not evolved along with the other elements of the internet. Hence, many people continue exploring methods to send big files free.

Some people resort to the use of services involving data transfer offered by several websites. Among the common sites visited for this are YouSendIt and MegaUpload. Under the approach, the user will have to upload his file on the site. The download link will then have to be copied and sent to the file recipient for downloading.

A disadvantage in using this method though is that many others will still have an access to the uploaded file. Employing this approach would only be beneficial in cases where the data are not for exclusive use. Uploading private data in these sites is discouraged especially if contents are supposedly for a particular people only.

You may also resort to the using FTP servers for transferring files. You may be granted access to the servers through your personal website or that of your company. With this approach, your data may be made available to the public as long as these do not contain information that is supposed to be for private use. Otherwise, you may have to request guest logins for security.

Other options available include the use of storage solutions as Dropbox. Although, there is a limit of 2GB for the free accounts in Dropbox. The online interface may used to acquire the download link and have it emailed to the recipients. File sizes will only be limited by sizes of the accounts.

It is also possible to have file structures compressed into zipped formats for easier emailing. Upon receipt, these will only have to be decompressed into unzipped formats, restoring them in their original structure. Compressing brings about reduction in the sizes of data.

A requirement to efficiently send big files free is a good internet connection. This should be possessed by both the recipients as well as the senders. Since the attachments and downloads would need longer processing time, it is necessary that one has a stable connection throughout.
