An Honest Review of the Apple iPad 2

By David Lemora

Apple made a big splash not long ago when it released the iPad, and they now have the iPad2 which offers some additional upgrades and features. In the competitive field of tablet computers on the market, Apple has managed to grab most of the attention with the iPad. Why don't we see if the iPad 2 is really all that different original iPad.

The Ipad tablet delivers most of the same applications that you can find for the Iphone. Some might not be, just like cell phone spy programs, but the majority are.

Face Time video calling is something that the iPad 2 will do that you can't do on the original iPad. This is one feature that is quickly becoming wildly popular because it allows you to see the person to whom you're talking in real time.

The iPad 2 has an HD camera on both the front and back, so you can see your friend's face with the front camera and use the back camera to take shots of your location if you want. The Photo Booth app enables you to take snapshots of yourself as well as your friends with your iPad. Don't buy the iPad just for this feature though because it is also available on the iPhone and on Mac computers.

The Multi-Touch technology used on the iPad is really what sets it apart from other devices. This is something that was first introduced with the original iPad and when you get used to it, you can simply and easily do lots of different things just using your fingers.

There wasn't a camera in the original iPad which was a major criticism of the device. The iPad 2 has remedied this by giving you two cameras, one on the front and one on the back. Unfortunately, this still may not satisfy many users, as these cameras are not very high quality. These cameras are fine for taking the basic shot or chatting with friends on FaceTime, but they won't take high quality photos or videos. Since most serious photographers will have their own cameras and most mobile phones have cameras, this might not be considered that serious of a flaw.

As you read the Apple iPad 2 list of features, you might think it offers everything, but this isn't exactly the case. Many users are disappointed that Apple still hasn't included Flash support for iPad 2. There are websites that are based on Flash, so while this may not seem like a major issue, it does create limitations in viewing those sites. There's also no SD card slot on the iPad, which makes it harder to import photos from a digital camera. It can be done, but you will need an adapter which isn't as convenient as being able to use an SD card. You also can't add extra storage, so you have to make sure you buy a iPad that's going to meet your long term needs in this area. While there isn't a huge difference between the first iPad and the Apple iPad 2, there have been some improvements in the innovative device. The iPad 2 is not a device anyone desperately needs, but it does give you many capabilities and it can be a lot of fun. This is what makes it a great gift idea especially for people who loves gadgets and appreciates technology. On the other hand, you shouldn't expect an iPad to replace other devices, such as a smart phone, computer or camera, as it's not meant to do this.
