Advantages of E-readers

By Lois Park

E-readers

So you have already seen many people wandering around with these new e-readers of all different sizes, could they be better than buying books. There are new devices everywhere if you want to have all of the latest equipment, you want a new device to read on, why should you select an e-reader over a tablet PC.

Power efficiency

Most e-readers as manufactured by Sony, Amazon and Kobo use e-ink technology. This indicates that the display doesn?t use any power to display the text, only to refresh it. Any Android telephone user will make it clear that the screen is the most power hungry item on your device. This means that your e-reader can last up to a month before it needs to have a charge. This is also good in bright daylight as unlike a tablet there will be no glare.

Size

The dimensions of a standard e-reader is also more pocket-able when compared to 7 in. or 10 in. capsules. Their screens are also tougher than the LCD screens seen on most pills, which suggests you can be confident that slinging it in your bag doesn't imply a scratched screen

Directions

Most e-readers have small processors, to keep costs and power usage low. Dependent on manufacturer, you'll also get an SD card slot and MP3 player capacity. Again you are getting all this added functionality without taking a huge hit on battery life-span.

Some of the more modern e-readers from Amazon have a touch-sensitive screen function and others now have added applications.

For an Ardent reader the e-readers are perfect for day-to-day use due to the ruggedness and battery life. The e-reader is also very good for folk who like to read on their travels as it is much more light weight than carrying books around. Some books are much cheaper to buy on the e-reader rather than in book form.
