PC Satellite TV - 6 Must-Have Features to Search for

By Phil Sumpter

When searching for a reputable web television service that streamlines watching TV shows, movies and sports online, using a Personal computer or Macintosh, there's more involved than meets the eye. Finding a very good review can help but they can be hard to find since most of them don't breakdown all of the features and disadvantages.

As for the latter, there are some important things to search for that will help avoid issues, and even avoid a scam when pursuing these services.

Just focus on the most popular brand names. Target 5-10 PC Satellite TV top software services and research them more. When surfing the Internet different brands will show up as well as a number of reviews.

Make a list of the brand names that appear to turn up the most and are talked about more. Remember, good reviews on these products/services are hard to come by, so just identify the names for now.

The best thing to do is not jump the gun and pull the trigger to buy. Instead , here are six must-have features that a service should offer when choosing one:

1. Money Back Guarantee. Most commonly, top brands have an iron-clad, no-questions-asked thirty or sixty day refund guarantee. These services hire very reputable 3rd party payment processors like Clickbank, Plimus and PayPal to handle all their sale/refund transactions.

All refund requests should be sent to the payment processor, not the software service. With another party involved, disputes are handled better and resolved quickly.

2. Service Package. Finding a top notch PCTV software is one thing but what makes an OK service better is the package itself. This should include bonuses, technical support, channel updates, and software upgrades at no extra cost. A lifetime membership should be included. This helps keep everything up-to-date and like-new as technology and Web content changes.

3. Feature Enhancements. The software (a.k.a TV player) should be pre-loaded with 1000s of worldly channels, videos, radio stations and other content, and should ideally include the basic features like 'full screen', 'add to favorites', and play/pause/stop/forward/rewind.

Other features are often included depending on which service is chosen. This will include search, record, channel rating, and such like. Often, these features are not discussed on the website where these products are sold, and most reviewers don't cover them because they aren't hands-on product reviewers. In other words, they don't test the software on their computers.

4. TV Player & Web TV Browser. It can be hard to figure out whether or not a service includes a Web TV browser in the package, besides their own TV player. This kind of browser will have all kinds of different channel links and categories that compliments the player.

If a Web Television browser isn't included, some services offer a listing of different channel links that connects users to all kinds of popular content online. More on this in the next feature.

5. Member's Area. Not all of these services provide a member's area but for the ones that do offer them, they offer a rather more huge Internet TV experience -- meaning there are many categories and channels as well as links to popular online Television sites and extra TV players to download for more content.

What tends to occur is some of these services will indicate the number of channels they deliver but don't indicate the additional content that can be found in the member's area which can sometimes be considerably more than what's advertised.

Not all services supply a member's area and a few of them don't offer more channels, TV players, and so on.

6. Bonuses. These extra perks should be related to enhancing the user's online TV viewing when using a computer, such as DVR (Digital Video Recorder) that can record favorite shows online. Other bonuses can include security software, add-ons like iTunes and Google Earth, how to connect PC to TV.

Not all packages provide bonuses. Some may offer only one while others offer a few bonuses.

It's important to make note of all the features discussed and contact the software service to see if any of the extras are included. Occasionally, their site will tell what is offered but there can be some concealed perks that are not exposed.

Sadly, many written and video reviews in this small niche just don't measure up too well when it comes to revealing all of the features including benefits and drawbacks on each brand. But with all of the features mentioned above, this gives potential users some a basis on of how much or how little is required to enjoy Internet TV entertainment online when employing a computer.
