At What Point Did You Last Perform A Security Audit?

By Daniel Turbin

For many businessmen and girls round the country, the idea of net security is a vague one. Sure, sure, you will have spent some cash to put a basic system in place , and yes, you could have gotten lucky so far and not been the victim of a hacking attack. The issue is though, do you need your firms continued survival to be left to blind chance?

Do you want to leave the future of the business you have spent hundreds, maybe thousands of hours nurturing and growing, to be left to Madam Luck? If the answer to that question is no, then you need to make the time to be aware of data protection, as the statistical data aren't on your side.

If you do not have a solid system in placeif you don't have that system tested frequently, and make sure that all the parts which make up the layers of your data integrity are continually updated, then it is just a matter of time until you are hit.

Perhaps you will get lucky. Perhaps they will pass you by, or perhaps if you get hacked, you'll be one of the fortunate few who don't see much of an impact to your net result, but again, do you really want to rely on that many 'maybes' all falling into line for you?

Better by far to take a pro-active approach. Put a solid system in place ( or at least one that you're feeling is solid ), then make preparations to have it stress tested periodically ( most folks recommend yearly, at a minimum ) to make certain that the protections you have established are up to the task of keeping your business safe.

Shield your business. Shield your information. To do that in today's business environment means more than keeping a lock on your door and keeping your insurance paid up. In the present day's environment, it also implies ensuring you have solid way of protection against hacking in effect.
