Web Security Consulting Scam or Guardian Angel?

By Daniel Turbin

Some people may look at the complete field of net security consulting with a doubtful eye, viewing it as more swindle than substance. They may feel that it's simply another sort of person with a hand out, looking to collect a payslip for some unsubstantial service to your company that you may not actually need.

In my view, the people that think this way have not looked at the stats on the topic, or if they have, then they have not been able to grasp what they mean. I don't say this to be wicked, but the fact still is that every day, conservative guesses suggest that across the planet there are far more than 4,000 successful hacking attempts made everyday.

More than 4,000. Think about that number for an instant. How long do you really think you have got before they happen across your business's web site? If or when they do ( and again, neither the numbers, nor time is on your side ), how safe is your business?

Have you taken steps to protect your information in the event of a successful hack? Have you taken steps to lessen the damage such an attack may lead to? If not, then you're not only playing with fire, you're playing with the future of your business. If you rely on an online foothold in any meaningful way in your day to day business activities ( from customer relations to direct sales, from partnership to analyze, and everything in between ), then a successful hack will at once impact your operations, and in the overwhelming majority of cases, negatively impact your bottom line.

Why take chances with that? Why risk your future needlessly? Protect your info. If you lack the technical experience to do it yourself, hire a qualified web security consultant to judge your company and draw up suggestions, then follow them rigorously. You'll be extremely glad you did. These folk have the abilities to help. Far from being con artists, they may actually hold the keys to your firm's enduring wealth. Let them help you.
