DMX Merger And Its Facts

DMX mergers are the standard with digital communication networks and are commonly used for controlling stage effects and lights. They originally were intended to be a standardized means in the control for light dimmers. They now are used as primary means for linking controllers, dimmers and special effects devices. Its use encompasses various platforms including Christmas lights and also billboards.

Its network uses multi-drop bus topology using nodes that are strung together in a daisy chain. The network is composed of a single controller being the master and one or more slave devices. The controller only has the out connector. Each slave device consists of an in connector and an out connector. The out connector of the controller is connected to the first slave device through its in connector then a second cable would link the out connector into the in connector of the second slave device. The final out connector would have a terminator plugged to it.

Its data are sent via EIA 485 voltage levels. Its network wiring would be composed of the twisted pair which is shielded and has termination resistor that absorbs the signal reflections. The data link will use five pin connectors. Eight pin modular connectors could also be used if they are for fixed installations.

At a datalink layer, the controller would transmit asynchronous serial data. The format is fixed at no parity, one start bit, two stop bits and eight data bits. The start is signified by a break, which signals end of a packet, and then a mark.

There are several devices, consoles and controllers used in connecting a greater variety of lighting accessories and lighting fixtures. Intelligent lighting would be observed in lots of settings. Theme park utilizes it in many of their attractions and is used as well for many kinds of shows like in fountain displays and others.

It also has been widely used for architectural lighting project. They are used to illuminate exteriors of buildings, as accent and general use for building management. It is also being used for high end residential lighting. The popularity of LED lighting fixtures contribute to its wide use in architecture.

Developments in technology used for this includes making use of the wireless adapters. It usually is used for many architectural lighting given how cables can run only for so long making wireless operation ideal for it. Wireless transmitters are used on a controller and fixtures have receivers on them and the wireless signal would be converted to the conventional signal which is wired.

Using DMX merger greatly improves aesthetics. It would be very useful in many fields. A place, structure or figure can be made even more interesting.
